VFX PRODUCER

Job Description:
The VFX producer, in collaboration with the VFX Supervisor and the production team, plays a key role in strategizing, executing, and overseeing goals and partnerships related to the VFX aspects of TV and feature film projects. This role involves the management of project budgets, as well as supervision of the schedule and workflow for the show production team. Importantly, this position is client facing and involves direct interaction with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Bidding / Client Liaison / Project Delivery

  • Ensure all VFX show deliverables are determined, built into the contracted schedule and delivered on time

  • Liaise directly with the client to ensure work is progressing as per contracted

  • Attend scheduled client calls and reviews and delivery necessary information to the in-house team. 

  • Schedule and manage all change orders & rebids. 

  • Generate payment and key milestone schedules

  • Manage client expectations throughout the project.  

 

Budget:

  • Manage the contracted VFX budget for each project

  • Monitor and track overall bid vs actuals

  • Provide weekly cost and schedule reports to production team

 

Tracking:

  • Track turnovers, assets, shots, finals, marketing requests and change orders

 

Internal Communications:

  • Manage internal communication between the VFX Supervisors, Leads, Heads of Departments and Production team; and anticipate and communicate issues in order to resolve problems quickly

 

Scheduling / Resource Management:

  • Maintain oversight of project schedule according to the scope of VFX work required on the show

  • Ensure scheduled targets are hit. Identify and resolve any scheduling conflicts, issues or delays

  • Forecast resource requirements with the VFX Production Manager, VFX Supervisor and project Lead to plan an effective and efficient approach to completing the show within contractually agreed deadlines.

You will:

  • Bid the Projects with VFX Supervisor & HoDs

  • Forecast resources for the show using our forecasting Tools.

  • Schedule & plan resource requirements with the Production team and VFX Supervisor

  • Provide weekly cost and schedule reports to VFX Producer and Head of Production

  • Ensure the VFX team understands the goals and deadlines for assets, shots, sequences and any R&D projects required.

  • Ensure scheduled targets are being met by troubleshooting and resolving any scheduling conflicts, issues or delays.

  • Track turnovers and ensure we are tracking contracted amounts and budgets.

  • Track editorial updates & changes ensuring the production database is current and aligned with change orders.

  • Track client change orders and ensure the VFX team is aware of budget changes approved to progress.

  • Ensure the production team is running efficiently by attending reviews, dailies & meetings.

  • Arrange and/or attend VFX Supervisor & Director reviews.

  • Ensure artist schedules are being managed efficiently.


 

Essential Skills:

  • Skilled in client communication, confident in hitting the right tone and urgency to avoid any potential miscommunications.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, impeccable time/project management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

  • Ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in production database tools e.g. Shotgrid

 

Requirements:

  • VFX Producer level or in a similar senior production role at a VFX facility. Experience as Producer in TV/Feature Productions.

  • Excellent knowledge of Shotgrid, Excel & Word.

  • Proven experience managing artists and working with clients.

  • Organized and methodical approach to work.

  • Ability to provide clear planning for artists, supervisors & clients.

  • Capable of motivating and leading teams with enthusiasm.

  • Able to troubleshoot & solve problems.

  • Calm and personable under pressure and when working to tight deadlines.

  • Fluent in written & spoken English. Norwegian is a plus.
